The client was keen to retain and enhance the heritage qualities of the original property whilst upgrading and extending their home located in one of Manchester's leafy suburbs. The spaces were carefully crafted to create a classic, contemporary and timeless look. It was important that from the point of entry a direct view to the garden was made to reconnect to nature. 

 

Once inside, the home reveals its character, old and new merge together along lines of steel structure coated in rich black intumescent paint. Dual crittal doors open to the classical lounge which frames a heritage fireplace.  

 

The existing cornice features are restored and the classic mouldings contrast with the sleek design of the refreshed interior and the contemporary details of the extension to the side and rear. 

 

The generous windows and skylights in the kitchen diner bring in a tremendous amount of light which extends through the property to the arched front door. Upstairs the redistribution of walls transforms the two rooms into three well proportioned rooms, one with ensuite and a larger bathroom.
